Mick Spencer, 28-year-old CEO and founder of custom sportswear apparel provider, ONTHEGO, has today announced the release of his first book, Start Before You’re Ready(SBYR).
Published by Wiley, SBYR offers entrepreneurs an inspiring new roadmap to success – one that runs against the traditional principles of running a business. The book will be available across all national bookstores and online from 2 November 2018.
Mick Spencer said his motivation for writing the book was to inspire young adults, students, entrepreneurs and business owners to live a purpose-filled life and to remind them that there is no right time to start something great, or venture out of their comfort zone.
“Too often people suffer from ‘analysis paralysis’ where they overthink a situation and eventually talk themselves out of doing it. Start Before You’re Ready is about inspiring people to take action,” said Spencer.
Growing up, Mick faced severe vision impairment and suffered from two heart conditions. In his adult life, these have caused four life-threatening attacks which medically should have killed him. Despite being instructed by doctors not to participate in physical activity, he has completed an Ironman, hiked across China, and regularly rides his mountain bike to clear his head.
It is this same determination that has allowed Mick to grow his company over the last six years from his parent’s garage to a global e-commerce company that designs and manufactures custom sports apparel and accessories. Now partly owned by Wesfarmers, OTG is a disruptive company changing the way bulk production clothing is manufactured.
“All of my experiences have led me to write this book. I am very lucky to be where I am despite all the adversity I have faced in life. There are so many people out there who just need that little bit of motivation to start a business or achieve that special goal and sharing my secrets for success along with the best advice I have been given from other successful CEOs feels good. You gotta pay it forward,” added Spencer.
Spencer’s book is a mix of autobiographical information, tips for overcoming adversity, personal anecdotes, and advice he has learned along the way from billionaires, global CEO’s and highly sought after founders.
The book is designed to be a working tool for entrepreneurs, providing vital tools and clear strategies to give its readers a concrete plan for putting ideas into actions. It’s learnings and chapter exercises make the book highly engaging and memorable for its readers.
